Full participation in parishes
Reception in the church
The impact of the Naim Project has been extensive, spreading not only in different parishes in Spain, but also beyond its borders. This dissemination demonstrates the recognition and growing importance of the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in the religious sphere, as well as the value of community commitment to make this goal possible.
The growth and expansion of Project Naim's catechesis has given rise to the Association of People with Special Abilities, an encouraging sign that awareness of the importance of inclusion in all areas of society is growing. However, it is also a reminder that there is much work to be done to ensure that all people, regardless of their abilities, have equal access to the sacraments, religious education, spiritual support and active participation in the faith community.
Ultimately, Project Naim seeks not only to provide tailored catechesis, but also to promote a vision of the Church as an inclusive space, where all people are welcomed, valued and supported in their faith journey. As this initiative continues to expand, it will hopefully inspire more parishes and religious institutions to adopt inclusive approaches and commit to the full participation of all people in church life.
At present, the Naim project has about 80 catechumens and their families, as well as about 54 catechists spread across various parishes. We invite people and/or parishes who want to implement a catechesis for people with intellectual disabilities, we provide training for catechists and catechetical materials.
